The Great Fontainhas

“In leisure one can sit back and take in nature. It is very special for each one of us to go for hiking, camping, jogging, running , walking and so on”…..
So there could be none other place than Fontainhas-Mala to walk and enjoy with nature.
This is quite an interesting place of Panjim City - Goa’s capital. This place gets its name from Fonte-Fenix,Fonte means Fountain or the Zhar at Mala at the foot of Marutigadh. The stream that flows from the hills of Altinho, Fontainhas has still maintained its heritage. There is Maruti temple atop which was inaugurated during Portuguese reign. One can see the ancient Fountain or Zhar at the foot of the hill which was constructed during the Portuguese tenure. The major tourist attraction is Borca-Da-Vaca fountain connected to the Mala Zhar. St-Sebastain’s Chapel is another famous monument in Fontainhas connected to Mala –Zhar .The walk begins at Mermaid Garden and goes past Retro Venite restaurant to St-Thomas ward.
The landscapes rises up with colours – light pink, orche yellow, maroon, indigo blue on the facades of the houses that add charm to this place and wide streets. One can check out lifestyles and new age fashions on the shore of the gleaming Mandovi River. One can enjoy a glass of their favourite drink under the sloped tiled roofs of the restaurants and watch the thrilling world go by.
This can be a wonderful end for the delightful walk……
