Sahakari Spice Farm : A Walk With Nature

Sahakari Spice farm is located in the village of Curti in the taluka of Ponda. When you enter the spice farm you will be surprised as you will be welcomed by a group of folk dancers as they sprinkle flowers and put a tica of kumkum on your forehead and you are presented with a garland of flowers. After the delightful welcome you are guided to the food court where you are given a traditional Goan drink.


After the delightful welcome you have to proceed for a trek into the farm. The farm has a unique collection of spices, fruits, medicinal plants and herbs. As you walk through the farm a guide will explain all the facts and tales about the various pants. They also tell u how u can grow some of the plants at home.



 Half way through the tour you will get a surprise to see a family of elephants. And u can go for a ride on them. Later you have to cross a wooden bridge to cross the river. Further you get to witness the traditional method how cashew fenny is extracted from cashews and the guide explains about the extraction process. Throughout the walk through the spice farm you will get to see a variety of birds butterflies, insects etc.



Once you have finished a tour through the farm you are guided back to the food court where you are served mouthwatering dishes like chicken Xacuti, fish curry, fried fish, Prawns and other Goan delicacies. You are also served with a glace of cashew fenny. All this with traditional music playing in the background.

After you have finished the delicious banquet you can do a little shopping for spices, Clay pots, herbal products, souvenirs etc. 

A trip to the spice farm will defiantly be a peaceful and relaxing outing and it will take u back in time when life was so simple and everything was in harmony with nature.
